THE LIFERS & ANNIE SUMI BIO
The Lifers & Annie Sumi are a collective of female-identifying collaborators that have taken shape with the intention to re-imagine each other's songs. Both Emerging Artist of the Year nominees (Canadian Folk Music Awards), these three songwriters have created a collective performance rooted in an arrangement of softly plucked guitar, accordion drones and melodies, harp-inspired ukulele, and delicately intertwined vocal harmonies. With support from the Ontario Arts Council, this collective has toured their original material in communities around the world. Their "Sisterhood of Sound" tour (2018) carried their intricate arrangements and soaring vocal harmonies through the Northeastern States, Eastern Canada, and Continental Europe, supporting their latest albums Honey Suite (The Lifers, May 2018) and In the Unknown (Annie Sumi, October 2017).
