THE LIFERS - WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

SIBLINGS' SOIRÉE

Many siblings find joy in playing music together, and it is clear that the blood they share is coursing through their veins in a synchronized rhythm, beating as one. Audiences become captivated by the visible and audible similarities that compliment the siblings in a way no other musical pairings can compare. Gathering a few sibling performers together to celebrate the bonds of music and family would be a wonderful addition to the workshop schedule; it would complement the feeling of tight-knit community that most folk festivals strive for.

A-CHORDING TO ACCORDIONS

If there are multiple accordion players around (including Liv from The Lifers!), it would be interesting to get them all together to play some tunes, trading off solos and singing some traditional songs from each player’s background.

DOUBLE-X-TROUBLE

A workshop showcasing female talent at the festival would be a great way to address the all-too-common gender imbalance in the music industry, and to celebrate the many talents female-identifying folks have to offer.

A STRINGY SITUATION

Invite all string players to join together on one stage to play songs from the many places they come from musically and culturally, trading off solos and leading each other in song.

LITTLE LIFERS

We can host a children's entertainment workshop as a band. Sam's years of camp counselling experience, coupled with Liv and Jill's experience teaching music lessons to kids will help us facilitate this with ease and enthusiasm. One option could involve us playing our favourite childrens' songs (ex. My Favourite Things, The Cat Came Back, My Beloved Monster, Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter...) and engage the kids in the performance through movement, call and response, and hand-held percussion instruction.
